Did you take out the padding in the heel?

What's wrong with the quality of a stock DP15? I think they're pretty nice.

For one, the padding sucks both in terms of quality and quantity (in the heel). As you know, the PI A2000's have the more dense and substantial A2K style padding and stays.

I never got a chance to open one up, but I didn't find it to be of poor quality by any means. The plastic is not different though. Even the PI and A2K versions aren't really all that great. I just had to replace an A2K thumb last month.

Even my 1781 won't hold a flair to save it's life. :D I put some ridiculously stiff 1/4" in the thumb and pinky to compensate.

Ok, I thought you had relaced a PI A2000.

I have opened up a PI A2000 and the padding they use in the PI's is like the A2K padding. It has the white layer and gray layer sewn together rather than the soft all gray material in the retail A2000's. I'm not saying the retail A2000's are junk--but the padding is different.

That's interesting. I went through a few retail A2000's last year (made in Vietnam) and they all the spongy dark gray felt. I don't care for that stuff.

It's looks like Wilson is stepping their game up (and for a glove that retails for $220 they should be stepping it up).

Is the thumb/pinky/finger felt in A2000s the same as the heel felt - in other words, a single ply in older models and 2-ply in newer models?

In an '07 MIJ A2000 I have, the heel padding feels soft and pliable, but the finger padding feels rigid, comparable to my HOHs.

Overall, I don't think soft/pliable heel padding (or even reduced heel padding) is a negative because I don't think it contributes to shape retention, as long as the thumb padding and insert is rigid.
