Scott and Paul have outdone themselves. They are collaborating to build and auction 10 gloves - Carpenter Trades quality/innovation paired with Leather Head's quality leather prep (Horween Code 99, 55). I'll let the masters tell you more about it, but here are some pictures.....

Thanks Gabe!

I've been meaning to tell the GW community some of the back story about this collaboration. Paul and I are pretty excited about this joint venture. However, it's a holiday weekend and family comes first! I'll write more later...

Very cool. I got an email from leatherhead today as well. Wish I had a bit more scratch.

Here's some background on this collaboration:

Paul first contacted me with an email in 2008 writing, "I hope to appeal to you as a kindred spirit who has a love of creating. ... I'm a baseball guy and leather worker at heart who still believes that it is possible to create a high quality baseball glove in the United States." From that point on we have formed a friendship and kept in contact with a mutual appreciation for what the other was doing. Paul quit his job working for MLB and grew Leather Head Sports. I grew my business from a then part-time labor of love to a now full-time labor of love. We both have been active with the GW community here. We helped arrange the first GW Forum Glove Conference in NYC in 2010 and the second GW Forum Glove Conference at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown NY in 2012. Carpenter Trade and Leather Head are both independently owned and operated which allows us the freedom to do this collaboration. You won't find Rawlings and Wilson doing this! Paul and I are first and foremost GloveNuts and this new collaboration is the product of our enthusiasm for making great gloves!

The idea is simple and effective: combine the craftsmanship, innovation, and technology from Carpenter non-leather gloves, with the serious leather knowledge, experience, and craftsmanship of Leather Head using top Horween produced leathers to create the best of both worlds.

We've had a fantastic response so far. The first eBay auction for glove ID #1 ( link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/112043836686?ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:US:1123 ) has gotten a lot of attention and the price has shot up. The following auctions won't be as widely publicized and will likely offer lower prices to those that keep following.

Honored to have played catch with both GloveNuts, and played in their hometown.

Here's an update and some glove porn to share. Attached are photos of glove ID numbers 1 - 4. ID No. 5 is on eBay now with more photos and info. Link: ebay.to/2f2c9DY . I feel each glove gets better as I'm learning each time how to get the most out of the Horween leather lining and shape it to best fit the players hand. The feel is fantastic!

Thanks Jason. There are four different gloves shown and some are different sizes. The ones with the orange logos and the two in the pinky grips are 12.75" outfield patterns. The one with an H-web and showing the outer shell palm is a 12" fielding pattern.

I love that you guys are working together, I would love to see a reverse with eatherhead on the outside with carpenter guts on the inside. I think the man made product would hold up much better over time in the palm area

Funny you should mention this! I've been working on this idea exactly and just posted about it in a new topic here: http://glove-works.getforum.org/c-mod-carpenter-modified-t16675.html

The Leather Head collaboration has been great. I'm working on ID No. 7 now and will be holding auctions for 8 and 9 in the next few months to wrap up this limited edition.
