Good afternoon everyone! I am in desperate need of some info. I recently purchased a catchers mitt off of eBay for a really cheap price. When I googled it I could not find any info on the company or the model. My son has recently started pitching and his velocity is starting to catch up with my outfielders glove. Unfortunately I don't know a lot about this aspect of baseball so I figured I'd come to the pros! Any help or info would be appreciated. Here is the info on the mitt.

High five 33" catchers mitt
Model 3744 "custom built branded on the palm"
Top grain leather
Tags attached to the Webb have a picture of joe Torres with his name and the High 5 logo

I believe that Joe Torre's final season in MLB as a player was 1977.

That said, this mitt is likely at least 40 years old.

Laces tend to get brittle over time (even on an unused glove).

Be careful not to catch a ball in front of your face until you know that the laces are going to hold

:)

Thanks for the info. It just came in today. Judging by the graphics on the tags I'd say you're about right on the dating. So the question now it do I use it or keep it in new condition? I only gave 10 bucks for it and have no idea if and how glove appreciate or depreciate. Anything you might know would be welcomed! Thanks again

For something like this, unless you’re a big Joe Torre fan, use it. To be honest, he was a better manager and announcer then he was a baseball player.
Like has been mentioned, be careful with those laces.
