A HOH custom will be as good/better, than any store bought HOH. The fact that it's brand new, hasn't been tried on by a bunch of other people, and hasn't been sitting around in a hot store/stockroom means the leather will be in better shape than most gloves you'll find in stores.

Are the custom gloves from Eastbay still being made in the US? Same top notch leather?

As it stands now, yes they are made in the USA, and yes they use some of the better leather available.

So much to consider.
This will be my first expensive glove, so it's a whole new game for me.
I love the Rawlings Pro200-2 down at the local shop, but would like to go 11.75" as opposed to 11.5" just for a little extra versatility.
I've never seen an NP5 so no way of knowing if I like it or not. But wondering why pro200 is only available in 11.5" in stores and most 11.75" gloves stay away from the I web? Should that make me wary about ordering a custom pro200-2 11.75"?
Also, just read on here about ordering from Eastbay/St. Louis as opposed to the Phillipines option. Through Eastbay you can't choose the pro200 pattern, it's just one 11.75" option called 1175, right? Anyone know if this is similar to the 200 or will it be a different feel?

Thanks,
Matt

I'll only comment on the St. Louis Customs. As was posted here a couple weeks ago, Rawlings has eliminated their Custom Shop and will no longer be taking Eastbay Made in USA orders.

You've got to be kidding!
Whenever I find something I want I have this "act now or you'll miss out" impulse before realizing that that's ridiculous and that I should wait and make a careful, well-researching decision.
Well, I finally got screwed.

What would you recommend if I were considering an 11.75" I web? Is a Filipino glove my next best option? I love the DM Pro200-2 11.5" but really want that little extra versatility of an 11.75", I think.

Last time I checked, PRO200 (deeper pattern) and NP5 (flatter pattern) are the 11.75" Phil custom HOH options.

I personally feel like you can't go wrong with the PRO200 pattern at 11.5 or 11.75. If you keep the web laces tight, the PRO200 pocket depth is fine for any infield position, IMO.

In my opinion, the Don Morton Pro 200 is one of the best deals out there - a little over $200 for an outstanding glove and great pattern. I'm glad I have one.
