I believe those gloves were simply thank you gifts that Wilson sent to their better retailers around last Christmas, and to commemorate their 100th anniversary and to promote their custom glove program.
In the past year or so Wilson gloves have become the thing that replaced collectible sneakers for many 14 y.o. kids with parents with open checkbooks, so they can brag post videos of them and their gloves on YouTube. Some of them made their way over here awhile back, but they, their special custom PI gloves that Aso made just for their boy who's Aso's most bestest friend, their glove/forum drama, and their beanie/propeller hats were quickly shown the door.

looks like that auction ended but looks like it up again.... The owner of the glove is a member on the glove works forum.

these people are called hypebeasts.

I will not buy another Wilson glove simply because of the tweens I now associate them with.

Hype Beast
A Hype Beast is a kid that collects clothing, sneakers, baseball gloves, and accessories for the sole purpose of impressing others.

Hypebeast
A hypebeast is slang for someone who is a beast (obsessed) about the hype (in fashion), and will do whatever it takes to obtain that desired hype. The term is meant to be derogatory by ridiculing of such with a lack of style. Hyped up brands sell their products for a price more than the average company and can be seen re-sold along the internet for a price much greater than retail due to the fact that it is either exclusive, or somewhat limited.

If fads in baseball glove collecting is anything like gun collecting, those over priced custom gloves will be for sale at very reduced prices in the future. The spoiled brats will sell their leather to fund the next fad.

Only Wilson I'll ever purchase again is an Orange Tan Pro Issue from years back. Cannot stand seeing all these red swagged out gloves in their retail line.
