for such an important piece of equipment, I'm kind of surprised there isn't much discussion about it anywhere. while you hope it never has to be called into action, you have it there for insurance.

1. what kind of cup do you have?
2. what do you use to contain it? ( jock, sliding shorts, etc. )

*and please, no low brow discussion on the size of your cup

for me, I use a shock doctor, it breathes, reliable and comfortable, and I wear it in a shock doctor jockstrap. I do not like the feeling of cups inside the pocket of sliding shorts, just never feels like it gives good coverage.

I use the same shock doctor... but with an Under Armor Jock strap. The UA Strap really gives support unlike other sliding/compression shorts I've used in the past. The problem I had with the compression shorts was that the cup would literally feel like it was sitting merely in front. With the jock... totally different feel... much more natural and comfortable. Full support.

I know a lot of you prefer the protection the sliding shorts give you, but for me, I'd rather have a more secure cup.

so you don't wear sliding shorts?

I wear nike heist sliding shorts over my jock. just got them recently and love em. might go get the longer ones that go past the knee.

on Sunday, I was catching and got my first cup check for the first time in a long time from a foul tip. awesome feeling.

yah i go raw. I've tried wearing shorts over the jock during the summer and it's just too hot for me. maybe now that fall ball is starting I'll give it a go...... extra layers won't be an issue when it cools out here in November.

First layer is Under Armour long compression shorts. I then wear the XO cup inside a Duke supporter over it. I agree about the cup pocket on sliding shorts not giving a very stable feeling.

I don't know how some of you guys go without protection, took a bad hop the other day playing SS, got the guy out, but breathing was tough for the next minute.

I just trust my hands. I feel if i get hit there it is because i did something wrong so i deserve it.
Once i was catching a bullpen for fun so i threw a cup in the cup pocket of my sliding shorts i was in a hurry didn't get it situated properly so one of the outside edge of the cup was right in the middle of what i was trying to protect, you know how it goes pitcher bounces a changeup instead of blocking it i hop up and try to pick it and the ball slams into the cup which digs right between my babymakers.
So yeah cups are more trouble then they are worth lol.
