Here's some background on this collaboration:
Paul first contacted me with an email in 2008 writing, "I hope to appeal to you as a kindred spirit who has a love of creating. ... I'm a baseball guy and leather worker at heart who still believes that it is possible to create a high quality baseball glove in the United States." From that point on we have formed a friendship and kept in contact with a mutual appreciation for what the other was doing. Paul quit his job working for MLB and grew Leather Head Sports. I grew my business from a then part-time labor of love to a now full-time labor of love. We both have been active with the GW community here. We helped arrange the first GW Forum Glove Conference in NYC in 2010 and the second GW Forum Glove Conference at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown NY in 2012. Carpenter Trade and Leather Head are both independently owned and operated which allows us the freedom to do this collaboration. You won't find Rawlings and Wilson doing this! Paul and I are first and foremost GloveNuts and this new collaboration is the product of our enthusiasm for making great gloves!
The idea is simple and effective: combine the craftsmanship, innovation, and technology from Carpenter non-leather gloves, with the serious leather knowledge, experience, and craftsmanship of Leather Head using top Horween produced leathers to create the best of both worlds.
We've had a fantastic response so far. The first eBay auction for glove ID #1 ( link:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/112043836686?ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:US:1123 ) has gotten a lot of attention and the price has shot up. The following auctions won't be as widely publicized and will likely offer lower prices to those that keep following.
