Hello, I'm deciding to pick up a Miami Marlins Colorway 1787. H2R. Would like to know a little history about it. I know it was a hot item before Eastbay re-release this colorway, and I know you can use the Wilson Custom Page now to create this glove. But for the Price I am looking to pay is alot less than a new custom and I believe its still worth getting.

1st Question is - before EastBay, was the H2R ever mass produced?
2nd Was the H2R meant to be a 1787 or 1786? I have seen both.
Was it ever an Original H2R? I thought the only H2R that was available before the EastBay batch were all PI with "H2R" stitch around the thumb. The first batch of EastBay were made in Korea I believe, and later on moved to Vietnam. First they were 1787 (Korea) then 1786 (Vietnam). Am I correct?

And Lastly - Are they still worth collecting?

Thanks. DD.

The reason why there are 1786 & 1787 versions is because there was a time when Hanley was using 1787 (11.75") in BP and 1786 (11.5") in games. Usually a guy would use the smaller glove when practicing and the larger glove in games, but he did the opposite. I'm sure there were times that he occasionally switched and used 1786 in practice and/or 1787 in games, but for the most part, the 1786 was the game glove.

It wasn't mass-produced before Eastbay (at least not in the U.S.). It's possible that it was made for retail in other countries.

I have one of Hanley's used 1787 gloves that I got from a Marlins charity auction. Because it's a 1787, it was most likely only used for practice and BP, possibly some spring training games, but probably not any regular season games.
