You heard Michael Kay mention this on the Yankees telecast, huh? Me too.

If not, then nice find haha. Cool concept. Sure is paying off for him at the plate this past week!

Interesting article. I didn't know he replaced his cleats so frequently.

when I went to Japan, I bought a pair of Ichiro model cleats, and just holding them, I can tell they won't last long. never used them. absolute featherweights.

Insane, but I admire that kinda of dedication

Reminds of Pictures of Ted Williams using a Bone-tool on the barrel of his bats
Either that or he was cheap

I always knew how anal Ichiro was about his glove (everything from how particular he is about how Ko Kishimoto makes it for him, to how it's kept in the dugout and clubhouse), but it obviously extends to his bats and cleats too. I can't believe how often he changes out his cleats... I kinda like sticking with the same pair for awhile, out of comfort, habit, or superstition if things are going well. But Ichiro is very unorthodox in that way... he's been known to go to a new glove midseason, which is pretty much unheard of in higher level ball, unless your gamer is lost, stolen, or spontaneously combusts.

Isn't it frustrating when you field a ground ball and WHOOF, your glove just goes up in flames!

Laugh if you will, but it's not a pleasant experience... but on a happy note, I hear Vegemite works well on burns. ;)

Those look awesome... if it makes any sense, they actually look very lightweight.
Do you remember what they went for?

originally, they were about $250, but were on sale for $210. however, the guys at the shop were so nice I ended up paying about $160 for them since I came all the way from US.

its crazy to think I generally won't spend more than $60 on a pair of cleats, but I had to fork out some serious cash for these.

If youse think Ichiro is pedantic about his bats, check out what the Aussie Cricket Captain has come up with for his cricket gear!!!!

P.S. It's all in the name of charity, though they do use these types of trunks for their equipment just perhaps not quite so flash
