up until this summer, i have exclusively been a wilson-man. i loved them because of their durability, and for their stiffness, but then they started producing some softer leather, and i think that the quality of the a2000s and the a2ks has diminished. theyre still a great glove, but not up to my standards.
i was in the market for a new glove, because go figure, my a2k was breaking down. i wanted something customized and high quality, but also a great value. i made my purchase through john the glove guy in august of last year, and it was an exceptionally pleasant experience. i got a 11.75 modified trap with black and grey leather, and i have to say its the best glove that i own. its my baby! I ordered it extra stiff, and thats exactly how it came. i could barely even close it! there were very minor scratches on the leather, which is no big deal and you can barely even notice it. ive started throwing in my rehab from tommy john surgery and this puppy isnt going to get broken in anytime soon.
i expect that this glove will last me a long time. for only 200, i think it kicks wilson and rawlings butts. you cant beat a very high quality glove that is completely customized for that deal. also, john is an absolute pleasure to work with. when you talk to him, he will get you exactly what you want!
if you do decide to go with rolin, get a size bigger than what you would normally get. im used to the 11.75 wilson which is a decent sized glove, and the rolin came in a tad smaller than i expected. im a pitcher so its not a big deal at all, but if youre a position player, you might want to go a little bigger.
p.s. the glove comes in with a flare, and is awesome. it also smells like nothing else, and is probably my favorite thing to smell in my house!
hope this helps, and happy shopping!!!
