Hey Gents,

Trying to decide between the following:

1. Nike MCS MVP (Molded)
2. Nike Air Max MVP (Metal)
3. Adidas Excelsior 6 (Metal)
4. Nike Air Huarache LWP90 MCS (Molded)
5. Mizuno Pro KL G5 Low (Kangaroo Leather) (Metal)
(***Not sure how the Kangaroo leather would hold up to wet fields and sliding on infield dirt diamonds..)
6. Reebok High and Tight II Lows (Metal)
(****At 17.2 oz, these are heavier than all other brands...Winder if it is the extra arh/heel support I see on these..)

Will be used in my over 30 mens Hardball leagues...30-40 games per season (incl Fall ball)
Trying to make decison based on weight, performance and price......

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated....
Mike

I had the MVP MCS (molded) and the Air Max MVP last year. The MCS' were good, but I didn't get as much "traction" as the metal Air Max's. Both were very comfortable with great ankle support.
I tried on the Huarache's in a store but for some reason, I didn't like the strap.
As far as the others, I'm not sure. I never encountered them.

Since they're allowed in your league, go with metal over the molded cleats. If you're looking for lighter consider these.

Check around for price and look for coupon codes as well. You can get a pair for under $90 and they are great cleats with everything you're looking for.

Get Mizunos. The latest G5s are very good but if you want to save money you can find the previous G4s cheap...

Huaraches are unbelievably light. Highly suggested ;)

Clippers or Coops are the best cleat I have found. I've been favoring my plastic spikes lately.

I use the Mizuno Pro KL G5low metal spikes. I play independent ball with former major leaguers and aspiring collegiate athletes. I am not the only one who loves these cleats. They are super light and strong (and they smell good too : ). When deciding on the right spikes to use, it all depends on what type of player you are. For the quick movement needed for range and a smooth turn at second while on defense, I prefer a light, low cleat to maximize efficiency. I also bat second in the lineup and my coach requires me to bunt, steal, tag, run the bases very aggresively, etc. so I need this type of spike. I like Nikes too, but they break down so fast, as do under armour. If you are like me, get the Mizuno Pro KL G5low.

I have both the G4 and G5 Mizunos, love em, and will never wear anything different. The 9 spikes provide great traction and support.

I agree with Mizuno KL kangaroo leather. Like pillows on your feet.
