Love how much Pedroia winning a real award bothers Yankee fans

Tex is the real Gold Glove winner for digging out sooo many of Jeter's throws

It doesn't bother me as a Yankee fan, it bothers me as a baseball fan.

.326 Avg.
17 HR
83 RBI's
.376 OBP

Some pretty mediocre numbers for MVP don't you think? Morneau should have won MVP that year, but didn't because the Twins didn't make the postseason and the Red Sox did. One could argue that Longoria should've finished higher than Pedroia did, yet he ranked #11 that year. Without Longoria, the Rays wouldn't have even made the playoffs that year let alone the WS.

If you want to make an argument that Pedroia contributed to his team, then think about this. Pedroia didn't even have the best numbers on his team. Youkilis' numbers for 2008.

.312 Avg.
29 HR
115 RBI's
.390 OBP

Doesn't bother me..Really happy for him, in fact. He's a hard-nosed player and has been really good to me and my family.

He's great on defense, so he deserved that award.

Well Jeter's advanced stats where far from impressive: http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?p ... 10&month=0

Comparing them to Tulo's who won in the NL: http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?p ... 10&month=0

UZR is the main stat to look at

I'm confused :? says:
If his UZR is plus, he is above average, and if it is minus, he is below average.

Tulo's is positive and Jeter's is negative :?

Tex is better then Smoak, Moreland, Cantu and whoever else put on a firstbase glove for the rangers this year and well as Konerko....So of course Jeter had less throwing errors...
I wish they had a stat for an infielder diving to knock a ball down with a runner on second base.

My opinion - If they want to give Jeter the MVP every year a case can be made for it. The Yankees wouldn't be the Yankees without him and he is very valuable to baseball in general.

But he is not nor has he ever been the best fielding shortstop in the American League. They get paid to make the routine play. Being the best means going for it - and when you go for it, sometimes there are going to be errors. Range is hugely important. I agree that many SS get to balls that are getting scored base hits on Jeter.

Jeter is a great baseball player. In the WS two out in the 9th and tying run on 2nd, I'd send him up in a heart beat. He ain't a great fielder.

How much of that GG was because of where he plays?

When Ozzie was playing there was no doubt who the best was.

Good to see Gardner getting some love for his work.
