SamBat (Maple)?
B45 (Birch)?
Diego Bats? (Maple or Birch?)
Maybe Prarie Sticks? (Maple or Birch?)
Slugger? (Only if I can get 1XX Personalized from them)

I can't decide! Thoughts?

Hey E-five,

It will be difficult to get a 1XX Louisville bat personalized unless you play minor league ball I think and from the other bats on your list I have only tried the Sambat which are really good. But I have to agree with swaggermound and Goldy the Gopher that Maxbats rule. I get them sent to a store near me so I get custom models like CU1, AP5, DW7 that are not your regular models but you can order through Maxbat. Check out these sites for models that are not on the website but they can make for you. As you will see you can make almost any model that both Louisville Slugger and Marucci make. I think that Maxbats are the most durable and strongest bats that I have ever used. I use them in the cages and games and have yet to break one.

My 2 cents

I frequent hittersinc to see if they have any new product. Would love to have bought a Boomstick 73, but they were taken down pretty quickly after I saw them.

And I am looking into MaxBat, especially seeing the new catalog! Thanks, Sammy!

agreed. Max bat 191.

Hate the 271 Style for some reason...

Right now, my choices are either:
-Prairie Sticks (Birch)
-MaxBat (Birch)
-Old Hickory (Ash)
-SamBat (Maple)
-B45 (Birch)

I have a 1XX bat that is junk IMO. Doesn't have near the pop as my non-1XX slugger. I hear real good things about old hickory but no personal experience. Just my .02

There's just something about that Sam Bat!

E - I think if you really really are serious about trying something new... you gotta go Birch... and you gotta go with the original/best Birch maker. B45, bro. Little pricey for my tastes in regards to something I'd be trying for the first time... but if yer gonna turn a new type of wood... might as well go with the company that claims to be the best at it.

...and this way you can tell me how it turns so I can make my decision for the Spring. :)

B45 is extremely good. I would highly recommend them.

How long did you use a B45? How would you compare it to Maple and Ash?

My teammate gave me 2 of them. They are extremely balanced and the ball jumps off of the bat. The birch is really dense it kinda feels like you are swinging aluminum. If I had a way to get more I would only use B45. But the only connection I have sells em for 75...
If you have the money to get em I would. They say they send customers the same quality bat as they do big leaguers. They are hard to break.

$75 a stick is a pretty sweet deal on them (B45). Everything I've read has Birch solidly in between Ash and Maple -- and it sounds like you concur (I've always felt that Maple turned heavier than aluminum).

Hopefully I'll get lucky enough to try on of these out before I end up buying one. If not... I'll have to go by you and E-Five (cause, let's face it, E-Five is gonna go birch).
