Sounds like a great time. I should be able to make it and meet a few members after these few years online.

Fellow members:

We need 10 hard commitments to make this a go so we can have them host us.

How is everyone's schedule shaping up for Sat Oct 15th?

Hey. Even though I'm a new member, I'm very interested in attending on the 15th of October. I live 18 miles from the HOF, so this would be a piece of cake for me. Count me in.

I'm out. I'm coaching my son's soccer AND machine pitch team this fall (starting the 2nd week in September). My Saturdays and Sundays are slammed. I was really looking forward to going to the HOF and meeting some of the guys, but I have too many irons in the fire.

Working on a glove to raffle off at the event and should have a few hand outs for those in attendance. I also expect a few other surprises.

Hey fellow glove nuts. I decided to start posting specifically to help promote this glove conference and give you some details.

This event is shaping up to be a glove enthusiasts best day ever. First, if you love baseball and you’ve never visited the Baseball Hall of Fame you really need to make your pilgrimage and this is going to be your best opportunity to do it. The event will be on Saturday October 15th, possibly the best time of year to visit Cooperstown. The MLB League Championships will be going on if you want to watch after the conference at a Cooperstown pub, the flood of summer crowds will be away providing a better Museum experience, and the trees in upstate NY will be at their prime for you leaf peepers.

The conference will begin at 1pm. There is plenty of time to arrive early and walk through the Museum. There will be three main sessions. The first will be a discussion on baseball gloves with different speakers, presentations, topics. The second will be a viewing session where the Hall of Fame will be providing special access to their collection. A number of great gloves will be brought out. In some cases we may be able to actually hold and examine these gloves (depending on several factors). After the Hall of Fame gloves we will look at and handle private collection gloves from attending members. The third session will be to step outdoors (weather permitting) and “have a catch” so you can test several different gloves from different members. This will also be a time to buy/sell/trade gloves with members.

There are many details still developing which I think are going to be great but haven’t yet been confirmed. Wake mentioned a glove to raffle off, and some schwag to hand out. I’ll be contributing some give-aways as well and there is a good chance for more items coming in.

We need to have a better idea on the headcount by Monday August 29th, so please consider joining us and reply to this thread. I live here in Cooperstown and will be happy to answer private emails and calls regarding logistics and details. Some members may be carpooling from NYC and other locations. Find a way to get here and join us!

Sounds like there is a going to be a lot of stuff going on!! I especially like the second session where attendees will be given special access to the Cooperstown collection! Having been to Cooperstown this is a once in a lifetime chance. I had been mulling it over about whether or not to attend but hearing what will actually be transpiring, I am definitely going to try and do my best to make the five hour drive to the Baseball HOF.

The last session, well, I'm not sure whose collection will be more impressive, Cooperstown or wake's! :) Hope I can make it and get to put some faces to names and perhaps make a trade or two. That is if I can get across the border with a ton of gloves in my trunk!

My collection palls in comparison to a few others here on the board.....unless we are talking vintage USA Spaldings or course.

I will bring what fits in the trunk of my S4.

Fellas, looks like we might have some giveaways too. Nokona and Wilson have expressed interest in giving away some gear maybe even gloves. If we can get 15 guaranteed attendees by Monday Sept 4th, you'll have a good chance of winning a brand new Wilson for the price of getting an insiders view at the HOF.

C'mon glovers!!!!!
